Just wondering if anyone can advise me.

I've worked for the same private bilingual school for two years. My second contract expired in May. The school says the new contract is coming soon. All the teachers in the native speaker program got a 3% raise the first payday after the contract expired. I have continued working without a new contract but gave my notice 3 weeks ago. At that time I gave two weeks notice but was told by the farang administrator that I must give 30 days notice in order to receive the signing bonus that was promised with the completion of my first year's contract. So I gave 30 days notice instead of the two weeks. I would like to know if I'm bound to give 30 days notice if the contract has already expired?

Additionally, I was sick for three and a half days. We get 15 paid sick days a year. I went home early the first afternoon after speaking with the farang administrator and didn't call in sick the next two days thinking he would know I was still not feeling well enough to come in. I know this is a poor excuse and I know it's usually standard procedure to call if you're not coming in. But this guy has such a rotten disposition at times that I just don't want to deal with his attitude. I'm sure I'd have done things differently had I not been on the way out already.

Now a week later, he tells me that according to school policy, a teacher who is sick must call in everyday to say that he or she is sick. Because I didn't call him the school (he) views this as an unexcused absents and the school will deduct the days from my pay. I saw the doctor and got the standard notice of treatment letter. I paid for it myself because my insurance card expired around the same time as the contract. But, here's my thinking, I'd be alright with this judgement if in fact the policy which was quoted to me was actually in the contract that I had but which is now expired. I asked him to show me that policy in writing and he said it's not in the contract. Is this something that would be better left alone or not?

Thanks
