Favourite Bars

I am not sure if this is too strong for this forum but here goes.

I was in Bangkok last Saturday and went to my favourite bar Tawan to see the musclemen. It was a special night with a pretty katoey competition and the place was packed - why I don't know as I go to look at the hunky guys. I was lucky and met with No61 who is new and spectacular and charming as indeed are so many of the guys there

Sunday night I went to Jupiter. The last time I was there their show was great with semi-professional dancing, stupendous sound system and gorgeous guys. No change there is was superb and though some of the guys are lazy during the opening Boyz Boyz Boyz number the dancers are well rehearsed. The shower show featured four 'donkeys' though the lighting was over subtle for some. I fled as the show finished due to too many cigarette and even a pungent cigar smoker nearby.

Monday was Valentines Night and I arrived in Chiang Mai courtesy Air Asia's 500 baht++ each way promotion. Met up with my friend and we went to Circle Pub - what can I say big WOW - the waiters were all bare chested and gym toned it was pec heaven and the boys were much the same. there was a very good cabaret show and some funny competitions. My friend won the condom blowing up competition and I did well on the find a number painted on a thonged guy's bod though I didn't find the 14 despite investigating every crevice.

Tonight it's My Way and tomorrow the re-opening of Adam's Apple. Any thoughts on other Chaing Mai 'musts' or Bangkok favourites?

I'm not really into show bars, though in my early days in Bangkok I went to a few. I've been dragged to Tawan by a friend who's into muscle, but I find it a complete turnoff- short muscley straight guys with kathoeys- one of the least arousing spectacles I've ever seen. Then again, it's not my thing.

Call me vanilla, but I've found myself most comfortable at places like Xtreme over on Suriwong Boys Town, where the guys keep their pants on and the dancing is professionally trained.

I LIKE the show at X-treme too!

And the guys seem to REALLY be enjoying themselves and having fun...

Hey, maybe I've seen u there, IJWT..??? :o

I have to be careful where I go in Silom.. it get's back to the bf.. who knows EVERYBODY - it seems...!

And with Thai's, you know there are NO secrets.. they just LOVE to gossip!

("Why you go to see X-Treme show...?????")

Can you believe they even tell each other how much you tip the go-go boy..??!

(Is NOTHING sacred??!) :D

Tawan Bar for masculine muscle men

X-treme for dancing slender 'not so masculine' boyz

Future Boyz has all sorts

Jupiter tends to the athletic

So many lovely bars catering to all tastes.

There are host bars in Bangkok though the number seems to be decreasing. The main area for these used to be Saphan Kwai but I think the numbers are reducing and turning into karaoke bars. I think some of the sleaze pits ( also reducing in number which addens afficionados ) down Soi Tawan had hosts though they seemed to have a difficult time keeping their clothes on. Turning Point on Suckhumvit certainly still is a host bar.

Out and about in Chiang Mai last night and tried New My Way. It was sort of OK with an erotic show which started at 10.15 p.m. and was still in full swing at 11.30 when I left. There are guys hanging around the bar who come over and say hello but the lighting is ultra dim and it's difficult to appreciate the quality. I sped to Circle Pub where it was shirts on (######!) but they had a fine show and No8 was there to greet me - happiness all round.

I checked out of my 'superior' room at the Suriwonse Zenith - it wasn't tired it was exhausted! I moved to the new DuanTawan next door which is 1800 baht for a 'superior de-luxe' at discount rate. It is much better but not exceptional value. I wonder if there is a great bargain hotel left in Chiang Mai. I used to stay at the Royal Princess but they have tarted it up and soared the rates and, like all Dusit Hotels, charge joiners fees - yuk. I had a look at Tamarind Village which looks wonderful and was available at 1500 but now it's full all the time and charging 5000 when you can get in.

PornPing maybe? No joiner's fee, I'm told (can't vouch for that first hand). Anyhow, I'm just a new boy :o in town, so others will be able to advise better.
