Sawasdii krap.... :)

Hi i'm from Malaysia, I wish to visit Thailand, Songkhla and Hatyai again at somewhat 17th July 2009...

Could anybody please to tell me any A H1N1 cases affected Hatyai or Songkhla recently. It's more appreciated if anybody can provide the links from government of Thailand's Ministry of health or

whatever any sources that related by A H1N1 cases affected by all means the city (jangwat) or region (paak)....

It's true that Thailand was affected by A H1N1 recently based on WHO Influenza A(H1N1) cases worldwide

but it's seems like impossible if the whole city of Thailand being affected by A H1N1 cases. I hope and pray this influenza will be cure soon... I pray that in southern region there's no any cases affected...

There are currently some 310 reported cases in Thailand, mainly in Bangkok and Pattaya.

There are so far no reported cases in Songkhla/Hat Yai. Though there's nothing to panic about anyway, the AH1N1 flu virus is no worse than normal season flu.

the AH1N1 flu virus is no worse than normal season flu.

You should add, in its current form it is mild but it is expected to mutate over the coming months so its future virulence potential is unknown. To spread to the south all it takes is one infected person to bring it on down, of course it is there already ... You see, the reported numbers are only the tip of the iceberg, if you don't believe me, do some research on the purpose and practicalities of reporting. Most people with a mild flu do not even visit a clinic, and there is no good reason for them to do so (just stay home and take some aspirin).

The area around Hat Yai Town and Songkhla Town and their rural areas are currently in a Red Zone for the Chikungunya Virus, which has far worse symptoms than Swine Flu. Transmitted by mosquito bites - the mosquito with striped legs that is active from dawn to dusk- it is essential to apply mosquito repellant throughout the day to avoid bites.Believe me you don't want Chikungunya !!!! Wife and I have both contracted it and we have had it for almost 6 weeks. Very debilitating and painful. Only benefit for us is that we have both lost 2 kilos each in bodyweight because of it, but I don't recommend it as a means of losing weight!

Absolutely, and at least half a dozen Songkhla/Hatyai friends have caught it in the past few months. If you're only here for a visit, you should be able to keep yourself fairly safe with a good DEET mozzie repellant. The favorite hereabouts is K.Y. 15 'Milky Lotion' (the pink bottle, not the usual blue one), available at all 7-Elevens.
