Phone Kept Ringing

Featured Replies

G'day,

It started yesterday afternoon. Once every 20 minutes or so, the phone rings and if you answer it, there is no one on the line except for a beeping tone, like some auto dialing machine. I don't have caller ID so I don't know where it is coming from.

Had to unplug the phone to have some peace. I'm in the CM area, any one experiencing the same nuisance calls?

Either its a debt collector or someone who you crossed recently.

It is dead easy to setup a PC/modem to do that.

There was a similar post to this a couple months back on TV .... dont recall the details other than it was thought to be some sort of scam.

More than likely it’s someone trying to send you a Fax – is the sound really “beep – beep – beep” or a more continuous but varying tonal screech?

Probably just a wrong number originating from an automated Facsimile sender.

It's a beep followed by a pause of say 2 seconds, then beep again.

I read about that scam thing too, and immediately I thought it could be that. Don't know how to make it go away though. I'll see if by unplugging that will send a signal to the the "algorithm" to stop.
