Preah Vihear Temple

Featured Replies

What’s the real reason behind the Preah Vihear temple, boarder dispute? Political diversion, precedent for other boarder areas in question, religious relic, etc?

The temple is obviously of Khmer origin, but so are many others sites scattered throughout Isaan and Northern Thailand.

The cliff face would make an obvious geographical boundary.

It’s no Angkor Wat, and is never likely to become a major tourist destination.

Road access, is on the Thai side, if anyone wants to come from the Cambodia side, they would have to walk up 1500 steps.

Why can't one side own the land and the other the temple and both sides recognise this as binding?
