Avi To Dvd Player Format.

Featured Replies

Ok I have k3b to copy DVDs, and I have 'handbrake' to convert to mp4 for my i-pod, and I also have 'acidrip' but have no idea what to use it for. Now I need a way to convert AVI files to a format suitable to play on my DVD player. Any ideas what I can use to do this?

Thanks.

DeVeDe can do what you want. I have used it to make dvd's from avi's. The dvd menu options leave a bit to be desired, but it gets the job done. Should be in the repo for most distros.

You may have a try Wondershare AVI to DVD Burner software which i often use. It has powerful video editing function.

You can refer to the following steps to get it done.

Firstly, download the software and install it.

Secondly, load the AVI video files into the burner software. You can edit the video, including trimming, cropping and effect adjustmentand. Meanwhile you can choose a dvd menu or customize it creatively. What's more, It allows you preview before burning.

Finally, Burn the video to DVD. In this step, Please note different countries have different TV Standard. NTSC is usually used in Europe and America. Choosing highest video quality is advisable, in this way that you can get high quality DVD without any losses.

Hope it helps.

Wondershare is a Windows app...

I'll try that when I get home where I have the connection to download it. I wonder how much memory each of these take up, as I have limited space.

of course you could always slip on down to Panthip and pick up the latest 'Converters 2009' CD which has a plethora of programs on it for converting anything to anything.

IIRC, DeVeDe doesn't take much. If space is an issue, you could always do "sudo apt-get purge insert_program_name_here" to get rid of programs you have downloaded but ended up not liking/using. The purge command also removes any extra dependencies that got downloaded with it (but only if no other programs need them of course!).
