Have been monitoring these forums for some time now and have to say the majority have been very informative . I suppose you 'll always have the " prophets of doom and gloom " no matter where you are but if you have something set in you heart , it's difficult to shift . We have been coming to Samui for 12 years now and despite all the changes , it still has that magic for us . We bought a house on the island 4 years ago as part of our retirement plan and despite all that has happened our plans haven't changed . Give us a few pints in the Irish Times early doors , maybe a trip to Chaweng strip 2 or 3 times a week , it,s what we have been working towards for the last 35 - 40 years for . So , all you stalwarts out there who love Samui and are still there Itake my hat off to you and we'll see you out there permanently next year Chok Dee Andy & Liz

It's a great place to live. We are all blessed to be able to live here.

I was back in the UK for a week not so long ago, I hadn't been back 3 in years since I moved here. Going back to the UK made me appreciate living here even more.
