Dear Forum,

I am looking to move to Ayutthaya, no urgency but probably early next year.

I would want a small/medium house to rent, quiet, out towards Wang Noi.

Could you give me an idea of price? And how I would go about trying to find a place to rent?

Hope you are keeping well,

All the Best,

BillZ

To find a place to rent you either have to drive around looking for houses with signs outside saying they're to rent or use your contacts. If you're a teacher you can ask your students - usually a student or two will have a relative with a house to rent out.

As for cost, I'd suggest a budget of about 6,000 Baht/month for a small, neat two bedroomed house. If you can get someone Thai to make the initial approach to the landlord and negotiate a price on your behalf you'll probably get it cheaper than negotiating yourself.

If you don't speak fluent Thai, you'll definitely need someone Thai to help you. There's not much English spoken in these parts.

Dear Bill

I'm sorry i can't answer your question, though i'm sure Ayutthaya would be a nice place to live. Its somewhere I want to see, but never made it yet :-(

However, just wanted to comment, what a pleasant change it made to read such a politely presented post on TV. :)

Dear Forum,

Have just visited Ayutthaya looking for a place. Found it far too big for my liking. However I was fortunate to find a place in BangpaIn which is near where I hope to do some part-time work - although called Wang Noi the workplace was much nearer BangpaIn. Hopefully things will come together at the end of the month.

Politeness never hurts does it? Thanks for the comment.

Hope you are keeping well,

All the Best,

Bill Z
