I am thin king of moving to Nakhon Sawan in about a years time, expect to live 9-10 months of the year there. Where do I look for a condo or house, not seen any estate agents? I have a thai lady si I know there are some issues there with buying, but on top of that there would be electricity and water charges, how much are they likely to be? Any other charges?, Legal fees expensive if I buy?

Ant thoughts would be helpful, thanks.

Condos in N.S. are like rocking horse sh*t.

Plenty of land available to buy (in the g/f name of course) to build a house on (in your name).

Somewhere in the dark and distant past I recall someone saying you can lease some Army Land, but I never delved into that idea. Leasing the land might be better than buying - depending on your opinion.

Some Banks often have repossessed properties for sale. Siam Bank being one that springs to mind.

A handful of URL's for you to point your browser at.

Most have property searches by province available so you should be able to get a realistic idea of what is available and expected prices.

Bank repossessions can generally offer a reasonably "secure" route for a land/property purchase as the bank will hold the necessary title deeds and land registration papers etc, therefore there should be no doubts as to ownerships or outstanding secured loans etc. Although when dealing with bank repossessions there is less opportunity to negotuate price.

Good luck with it!

On the ground floor.

Head through the main doors. Walk straight on for abt 100 metres past the escalators, then past the first set of exit doors to the car park that you can see on the right and a little further on on the right hand side you will see the sign for the bank. A small branch but there is a board there with properties listed and land.

OK @ few replies :)

Thanks for this had a look today, nothing I fancied, but, will keep looking and check out banks next time I am in Nakhon Sawan, although the advice I am getting is rent for a year and look around when I have more time in 2010.

snip for brevity.

Depending on what you are looking for regards renting, why not try Teuk Thai apartments? Even for a months stay it is a lot cheaper than using hotels.

Hotels are 450 a night upwards yet you can have a decent sized room in Teuk Thai for a month for 4,000 Baht. Have car parking, cable TV, security, CTV, own shower and air con. OK, you pay for the electric and water on top but I stayed there and averaged 5,000 per month inclusive or water and elec while I was looking for a house. Room I had was big too and had a balcony.

Just a thought :)
