Travel And Medical Insurance

T present I have a 30 day annual multi travelo insurance in the uk and have made several 30 visits, the most days policy I have seen in the uk is 60 days but want to come for over 100 days and eventually to stay for 10 months annually so I have some questions and would be grateful for any advice.

With regard to travel insurance does anyone know the answer? Can you perhaps have 30 days at the begining so cover on the outward flight and perhaps the last 30 days to cover on the returning flight, would companies aregue this unless tou obtain it in writing and if they say no in a writing how useful is the insurance?

In Thailand is there any option to just gaing to the doctor or hospital and paying? I am nearly 63 so annual insurance maybe will soon not be an option. I have heard about something called the 300 baht hospital, mean anything to anyone?

I am sure I am not the only one in this position so help would be useful.

From sounds of it, you need ongoing health insurance, your problem will be locating a policy that accepts new enrollees at your age.

Re your last question, that is the "30 baht scheme" and it is for Thai nationals only.

First point - Thai Visa can offer Annual Travel insurance for ages up to 75, however the maximum stay can be for a max of 90 days

I am not quite sure what you are requiring insurance for - just the flights ?

Should you need to see a doctors or be hospitalized in Thailand then yes, you can pay 'as you go' but beware as some of the International hospitals are expensive.

Would it not make more sense if you are staying here for most of the year to get annual Medical Insurance ?

Thanks to all who read my question about insurance. In answer to questions, I would be looking for flight insurance and I notice that Thai insurance seems to cut off at 64. I have also been informed by NHS in Whitehall that if I am out of the country for more than 3 months, not sure if the time is right here,that I would loose all benefits, but things would be a lot better when I reach 65, restoration of previous entitlements. I have found a site that would give me the type of insurance I want,found it on moneysupremarkets.co,uk for £205 so maybe I should return and put in a higher age. Any more help or advice would be useful.

Sounds a rather high premium, and as Thai Visa said, they can offer an annual policy for up to 75 years of age.
