Restoring An Old Fiat 600, From 1962.

Featured Replies

My latest project.

Fiat 600 D From 1962, with suicide doors!

( The 500 had a 2 cylinder air cooled, this is a 4 cylinder, water cooled )

Lot's of metal cancer, but she will be fine. Engine was stuck also, after many years in the field, got it loose again and running, that's also ready to go in again. One side, is now in the bondo, and ready to be sanded smooth ( that's a pain ass job )

Brakes are all stuck to. With some hard work, it hope to get it done in 3 to 4 weeks more.

Looks like a "fun" project car.

A Q, tho: Is this in Thailand? If so, how will the registration go?

I spotted one in Phitsanulok province, convertible, tucked away at a farm under a tarp . I could not tell if it was a genuine or one with tthe roof cut off. Send my brother in law to investiged and came back with this answer: Not even a 1 000 000 baht can buy this one!

Would love to restore a genuine one and put some abrath bits on it.

When I was a kid I spent several weeks in Italy where my parents were working on a film. Had many hair raising rides in the taxi version. They used to blast up narrow, cobbled side streets with barely 6" clearance on either side and anyone walking would have to dive in a doorway real quick or get a long blast on the horn and a mouthful of Italian abuse.

It's not in Thailand, but in The Netherlands, where I am now. But I just love the oldtimers. Did a "66 , 1300cc VW Beetle before this one. I would love to continue this work in Thailand to. This Fiat was stalled at a farm to, under a three for several years. I was just in time, if waited a year longer, could have thrown away the car for scrap. Weather conditions here ( 4 season ) won't make a car last long.

Just did the "front" yesterday, from 11 AM, until 11 PM hehe. Big pieces of metal bended, hammerd, and welded in, eventually got the bondo on, and ready for sanding. But taking a break today, it's sunday.

I assume that the 66 is a DAF 66?
