I have heard that Thai Airways would be giving 25% discount on its fares to long term residents who can show a visa in the passport at their offices and not through travel agents

The only offer close to a 25% discount I’ve received from Thai airways was on an internal flight and issued in their office. I had shown the agent my frequent flyer card but no passport or work permit. The issuing agent asked if I wanted the special fare on offer and I accepted. She said they were only available for certain flights and in limited numbers.

It was similar to the cheap special offer, booked over the internet, type tickets. This ticket had many restrictions attached to it. I could not seek refund or change flight times etc. I recall it cost about 1,460 baht as apposed to the normal ticket price of 2,000baht. I since thrown the ticket away, so I can't give you the ticket fare code.

Keep on dreaming :D

It was actually happening in NZ...no dream at all.I don't know if they still do it.When a Thai national booked a flight direct with TG ,they would get a better deal than joe hunt farang. :D

I can confirm that as a fact. My wife's friend(thai) who lives in NZL gets a "government subsidised" airfare when going to Thai airways office in Auckland.
