Local Government Wants To Clean The Khlong

I can't believe this, we've got a small khlong out the back of our kitchen, it brings in some nice breezes sometimes but also some pretty nasty smells!

The local government have visited a few times since we've lived here and have offered to dredge to khlong of all of it's crap, bottles, polystyrene, <deleted> etc but each time they come around asking a few of the locals come whingeing and moaning about the government crossing their land, the land in question is a concrete walkway provided BY the government for the land onwers to successfully walk to their land!! It's unbelievable, I just can't think of the cons compared to the pros...

I really want to do something about this, it seems that some of the locals are scared/paranoid of local government, or perhaps they're just greedy and don't want people on their land - if you can call it their land anyway.

How can I convince these people to allow access? It'll be better for everybody, less mozzies, less bad smells - don't these people care about anything?

This is the walkway which the landowners don't want the governemnt walking on, they come running out of their houses in their sarongs, having lazily sat there all day bitching about everything, shouting and moaning because the government wants to clear rubbish away!!!

NIMBY's ! :)

hahaha, yes, NIMBY's...

I'd still like a suggestion about what to do to persuade these NIMBY's to let the government clean the khlong...
