Actually mine was purely a mistake. I thought Thai Visa wanted a password that I used often,so I chose my Tax log on password. It proved so unpopular I decided to keep it. My real knickname from my Aircraft Contracting days is 'Loopy' No need to tell you why. :o

Mine is self explanatory... and I think the longer I live and work in Thailand, the more "jai dee" I become.

I used to get soooo frustrated... all to no avail, as I'm sure you guys all know already. :o

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

I'm Scottish obviously. A mate of mine used to call me Jockstar. He was the only one who did this. But i thought about another handle. But decided to opt for this one. I like it.

Mine means, 'Don't ###### with the teacher, or your grades will suffer' :D:o

You'll have to check out Thai mythology for the correct meanning of mine...but my interpretation is.." one day I will eat so much my stomach will explode" :o

I think mine is self-explantory as well... but I did have a question about yours. Have you ever asked a Thai what he/she thought regarding calling yourself jai dee as opposed to someone else calling you jai dee?

Just curious if the response is the same as I received a long time ago about that very subject.

I am well aware of the double meaning attached to being "good hearted" in the sense of being freely giving of money, if that's what you mean John.

Is there another one?

did you like "honey nut loops"?

I plan to take over the world through the total domination of bread products, I am in Thailand to fundamentaly alter the breakfast habits of a nation from tom yum to croissants, thus enabling me to get a foothold on the ladder of control. They said I was mad, but toast is gaining in popularity in kitchens across the world...Bwahahahahahaha!! Victory wil be mine shortly, start grovelling minions.

No, not really. Back quite awhile ago, I asked Thai friends if it would be ok to say that about myself and they said no. That it could only legimately be said by others about you. That anytime someone who said it in reference to themselves was considered too grandiose or even conceited. A braggard, so to speak. Like Thai politicians that say "Oh, look at me. I'm so good."

Didn't know you were aware of that, but assuming not, or maybe it's just something in my own experience.

Good point... I most certainly am not a braggard. I actually haven't used it in reference to myself, except of course as a nickname here, and come to think of it, I haven't heard any Thai people refer to themselves that way either.

One of the main reasons for my choice of such a nickname is that it represents how much I have changed (for the better) since coming to Thailand. Even my children back in Oz say that about me now, and that's a good thing. :o

mine is based on me posting usually in the dark of night before.

It's not a DARK KNIGHT in black armor.

Furthermore it's an obscure reference to a "buddhist" state of being, emptyness.

Good point. Some years ago, when I was a newbie university teacher here, I printed some name cards with 'Ajarn' in front of my name. Thankfully, a friend clued me in by telling me that wasn't really appropriate. Since then, I've never referred to myself as 'Ajarn' (except in the internet news groups for the past 12 years...) In public conversations, I refer to myself now as a retired teacher (kruu). Most Thais who know me will call me 'Ajarn' in conversation, but it's never been at my suggestion. It's their own idea. But, I do take it as a sign of respect, and I try to be worthy of such respect in my words and actions, as best I can.

George, what does your nickname mean?

because of the theme of this webboard I was going to go with kwai-yai-toulet , but after considering the amount of memory left in my deteriorating brain I decided to stick with a login I have used since I have been on the internet.

my nick came from a mate who after discovering I seemed to scare children , and my name being stu - gave me this moniker :o

Name of the biggest condo building in the Theparak. All lit up in blue lights. :D

On a dark night can be seen from the Chonburi Express way and also if the wind is in the right direction from the later arrivals to Don.M.from Phnom Penh.

my wealth :o  is thankfully no longer redistributed according to the whims of tony blair and gordon brown.

Same here, but the Thailand Traffic Police don't do too badly from time to time...

Neeranam means "anonymous".

Not sure why I picked it. I didn't want some people who were already members to know who I was, but I know most of them know now!

Anyone know why my bitty at the bottom that used to be in Thai script has turned into some weird language?
