Hello, I would like to play tennis. Can anyone recommend a tennis court in Bangkok preferably near Chong Nonsi or not too far away.

Would like racket hire at first if that is possible but if not not a problem.

I think it will have to be indoors as its too hot/humid at the moment.

Would rather just pay as you play instead of joining up with a membership.

Hope you can help.

Thanks.

In the Chong Nonsi area there is the British Club but it is a membership club. Silom Soi 16 as I recall

on the right side as you go to the river.

Best bet is the hotels. Most of the big ones have 1 or 2 courts and usually there is a knocker to hit with you.

He will cost you 3-600Baht/hr so if you can find a friend you'll save some money.

Some hotels restrict play to guests only, some do not.

Few hotels will have racquets for rent but the knocker will certainly have more than one frame.

If you take a taxi to Sukhumvit Soi 38 there are the Santisook Courts, 8 of them, 3 indoor [but lighting is poor]

Many knockers are available there for sure.

Good luck and happy hitting

Thanks, should've said I have someone to play with so won't need a hitter for now.

Will have a look at those two. Will probably just get a 900 baht racquet from Tesco for now!

If you are going to buy a frame, get a good one as a bad one will make

it impossible to play well. Invest 5-6000Baht in a good frame and it

will last you 5-10 years which is a pretty good way to spend money.

Give a bad insturment [piano] to a student of music and he will likely quit

out of frustration. Same is true for a tennis racquet or golf club.

Hi,

At BTS Ratchatewi there are two hard courts in the Trinity complex. Uncovered. Don't know quality of lighting. 02 231 5364

You can find consignment racquets at a tennis shop on Sukhumvit across from Emporium next to the Top Market. Good frames and good prices. The stock rotates frequently. I agree with Paul that using quality equipment is advisable.

Regards.

Any indoor air-con courts around Bangkok?

The indoor courts at the Royal Sports Club are always cool I hear... not a member and have never been invited.

The two clay courts at the Tennis Academy of Asia in Mueng Thong Thani are covered with high ceilings and a large breeze way on one side. Don't know the specifics of playing on them except the 1000 baht per hour fee.

There are courts at AUA, which is located at BTS Rachadamri, which costs about 80 baht an hour. You can also get a court at Asia Hotel for 100 baht an hour, which is right off a skybridge connected to the BTS Ratchathevi. When you call, ask for the Health Club, which is located on the 3rd floor.

Are these courts out doors?

Rama Gardens Hotel has very nice courts and a resort club there with fitness, pool, etc.

I don't know if non hotel guests can play but probably they can for a fee.

It is out of the way being about a 25 minute ride out the highway toward Rangsit and the old airport.

No one has mentioned the new facility out on Soi 50 near the Tesco at

the On Nut BTS stop. Six Beautiful courts but they said no knockers available.
