Phuket Water Quality

Vichitsongkram Rs.

Tablets: 50 kg       5'350 TB

Granular: 50 kg      4066 TB

As far as I know, Supercheap has neither tablets nor granular.

But Soda (for ph adjustment) and Aluminium Sulphate (as flocculant) and Copper Sulphate (Algee killer) I buy at SC.

If you have any better prices, pls let me know.

Not so sure about chlorine, but BB Chemicals in Phuket stock all pool stuff, so I'm sure they'll have that. It's oppositie Kortormor pub, and beside the big massage parlour - ...or that's what somebody told me, anyway! :)

I just checked the price on Chlorine from Applied Chemicals in Samutprakarn.

No problems with delivery.

A 20 Kg drum of granules costs 3,280 Baht (164 Baht/Kg)

This stuff is made by Nissan called TCCA-90G it is a combination of chlorine and cyanuric acid

chemical name: trichloroisocyanuric acid

The main advantage is that it prevents the rapid breakdown of chlorine by sunlight.

see: http://www.poolspa.co.th/pdf/Chlorine.pdf

I've found it to be a very good product.

The chlorine level stays up for days with only a cupful needed in 100,000 litres

to maintain levels.

You will also need plenty of soda ash (sodium bicarbonate) to reduce acidity.

40Kg bag costs 840 baht

They also carry a range of other chemicals e.g hydrochloric acid 25Kg drum for 600 Baht

Cleartrine floculant 1850 Baht for 2 litres (Pang..) from USA

Hope this helps

Couldn't stand to look at the turgid pool any longer, and just bought 20k drum of pool chlorine from Rawai Hardware for 3k. This is an 800 baht increase on two years ago at the same store with two price rises of 400 baht a time (2,200 two years ago), so seems not such a bad deal. Although wondered why each time the price increases it's always 400 dead on. Oh well. Rather fill the dam_n thing with Koy anyway but wife won't let me, says it'll ruin the tiles.
