Petrol/gasoline/benzene Or Biofuel

Featured Replies

I own a 2006 toyota vios, by the filler cap it has a sticker for regular fuel, the last time i traveled to north east Thailand in some areas normal fuel was hard to find they only stocked biofuel. My question is can i run my car on biofuel or will it damage the engine. I have tried questions and answers on the phuket gazette site 3 times but had no responce and when i call the toyota dealer get a recorded message in Thai which i dont understand, can anyone help me with information.

Several threads on this in Motorforum.

My october 2006 Yaris could run E10, thats petrol blended with max 10% Ethanol, also called Gasohol.

Your car can absolutely not run on E20, thats petrol blended with 20% Ethanol, also called Gasohol.

10% ethanol would probably not damage the engine, but could damage injectionsystem, o-rings, fuel hoses, fuel pump, filler cap rubber, etc.

you should see Toyota to get info about your model in writing. The fillercap sticker indicates your car should not run gasohol at all.

I fill up almost any kind of gasoil 95, E10, E20 in my October 2004 Toyota Camry (company's car :) ) and it reached well over 100,000 KM already without having never ad to change fuel hoses, pump, o-rings or whatever and the car is still running like a new ones

According to Toyota, my 2007 Camry 2,4 could not run E20. 2008 was modified to run E20, and this gave Toyota an excise tax cut of 5% enabeling a pricereduction of 80.000 baht. I am quite sure Toyota would have wanted this tax cut as soon as possible if their engine could run E20 earlier.
