totally nuts

I served in a British Army Bomb Disposal unit in the early 90's for several years and I have to say this is the most stupid thing I have ever seen!

In the "Similar Topics" box at the bottom of this page, one of the threads is "Thai Nuclear Power Study To Be Ready In Time".

I think we've just answered whether a nuclear reactor is a good idea here or not... :):D :D :D

Haven't seen that before, he is just so f**king luck it wasn't packed with nails.

Still having said that many years ago I was working in Reading, UK at the time of the IRA bombimg campaign and travelled by train. One evening I got on a empty train that had just arrived and noticed a brief case left on the luggage rack. So I went and found the guard and informed him of my discovery. We both went back to the carriage and he calmly walked up to it and took it down and off the train. Myself and another woman were both so taken aback by this we totally froze. We'd have been critically injured at the least if it had been a bomb and had gone off.

Before that I was working for the British MoD on a large test facility somewhere in the south of England :) , again this was during the Provos days of terror. Myself and a colleague were doing some maintenance on a large compressor and were using a magnet out of a tannoy speaker to clean iron dust and debris out of the crankcase. This magnet was huge, around 8" diameter and 4" thick and bluddy strong. When we finished for lunch we cleared our tools etc back into the switchgear room under the control centre and stuck the magnet to the steel door. Returning from lunch we were aware of some activity out on the airfield involving army trucks and personnel. When we got back the chargehand asked us if we had stuck the magnet on said door. "Yes" we confirmed we did. "Well forget about it, you have never seen it and don't know nothing about it. Somebody thought it was a limpet mine and called bomb disposal."
