I have a great sturdy little camera an Olympus U1030 SW

dsc_4550-300x201.jpg

Shock proof, crush proof, water proof (10M) Great all round knock around camera and great for taking shots of kids in the pool.

I was shooting some pics of my daughter when the screen flashed Card error please clean connectors.

I thought that was weird and did so, re-inserted the card and the same error.

I took the cam home and put the XD Card (2GB) into my computer and it won't recognize that there's a card there.

I thought to my self F* it and I'll format the card in the camera and then try to use recava or some other data recovery program to pull the pics back out.

I put the XD card back into the camera and try to format it and it can't do it.

I test out the camera with a different XD card ->read/write OK Computer ->read/write OK

<deleted> So now I'm stuck with and XD card that is dead to me. Any ideas on what I can do with it?

If at all possable I would like to get the picuters off of it. if not I would like the card to be usable.

I also had problems with such a card. Seems if card gets full it can go ballistic and not want to work anywhere. Believe I was finally able to open manually in computer, copy files, erase and then it worked in camera again. But know computer did not want to initially work either. Sorry I can't remember exact sequence (one was I installed it upside down in my new computer reader).

should I try to 'electrocute' the card?? I had a thumb drive go bad on me once. I waited a year for the charge in the device to wear off and it was good again. strange i know, but true.

maybe just hang onto the card till the flash memory dissipates it's charge/data?
