Am headed for Borneo to dive in and around Sipadan. Have booked with ScubaJunkies. Anybody have experiences there? I want to make sure I don't miss something wonderful and that I avoid anything awful. (Yes, I know you need a permit to visit Sipadan itself and have been assured my application has been approved - though only for one day!) Appreciate your help.

If you can try to push the dive guide to diving "Barracuda Point" (off the shore of Sipidan) it is a fantastic dive site with thousands of big barracuda's circling round and round.

One of my all time favorite dive sites of all time.

Last time i was there you could still stay on Sipidan, which was pretty nice cos you could get 5 dives in a day and then just flop onto your bed without having to go back to Mabul or other places. Shame they closed the island but I guess it was being damaged by too many visitors.

Mabul is also very good for macro and muck diving: harlequin pipefish, frogfish, scorpion devilfish...
