Thanks for the update. Very interesting about the photo. I didn't know that. Definitely explains why we always see those kinds photos. Sure would be nice to hear the rest of this story. Now that we know the victim was Thai and that it may not be/probably isn't the Rawaii rapist (and were not even sure those two incidents were the same guy) makes me wonder if this was a boyfriend/ex-boyfriends/scorned lover situation. These type of situations usually are.

Reminds me of years ago when I began dating the Thai secretary at the dive shop I worked at. I learned that she had a crazy Thai ex-boyfriend that was stalking her and had a habit of forcing her to have sex with him at knife point. She told me that if he ever learned she was dating me, he would kill me, and that he had been to prison before and didn't mind going back. Maybe the secretary is a dive instructor now and it's the same guy!!

What I have heard about the Thai Law is that when a victim identifies the criminal then the police must take a photo of the victim pointing to the perpetrator, for the record or who knows why. So even if they can identify them through a once sided mirror after it is confirmed then they pose for a photo together. That is why you see photos like that. It is mandatory.

I won't even go into my thoughts about this but really it is hard comprehend and not judge harshly!

This is for the same reason that you get 50% off your sentence if you admit guilt..

Because the courts are not very effective, so all encouragements and inducements for cast iron guilt and or admitting the crime are made, thereby making the judges job one of simply saying yes ok rather then conducting complex case law.
