Kosit Hill Hotel - Phetchabun

Featured Replies

For anyone thinking of going to Phetchabun for maybe the first time and require decent accommodation I can recommend the Kosit Hill Hotel which is handily placed for the city centre.

The room rate for September was 940 baht per night which included breakfast.

The farang breakfast consist of miniscule sausage, folded ham slices and eggs with a make you own toasting machine for those that want it. The breakfast is on a buffet help-yourself basis so for those of you that like a hearty breakfast two or three visits to the trough can be made. Thai food is rice soup (Kao tom) and a few other odd looking dishes which the misses claimed to be “Arroy” or “Sep” as the local dialect describes delicious tasting food.

Coffee is available via the coffee making machine which is a thick as syrup and guaranteed to come out the other end within minutes plus orange juice and water.

TV is via dustbin lid satellite and the picture quality whilst I stayed there was poor with just one English speaking channel which was BBC world news.

For some reason the English speaking movie channel was ‘off air’

Not to sure about an internet signal as I had my SOLOMON EDGE modem hooked up to my laptop and even though it has limited speed (460 kbps) it worked fine.

Myself and ‘her indoors’ had the whole of the floor to ourselves with very few guests to be seen around the lobby, corridors and breakfast restaurant. When we did catch sight of other farang guests she questioned why they came from the opposite direction to ‘our’ floor.

I explained that letting her book a hotel for the very first time in her life as a learning exorcise put us in a twin bedded room and those farang’s coming from the other side of the building were in double bedded rooms.

I think she now understands there’s more to booking a room other than to tell reception you want a room for the night.

It’s all a learning curve for her.

Sometimes at my expense!!

Enjoy, I did!!
