We are currently renovating an older house just off Wualai Rd and re-plastering the whole house inside and out. The wife and I are currently having problems finding a good plaster or plastering gang in Chiang Mai weve been through a couple of gangs already and they havnt been up to the job. Can anybody recommend a good plasterer or Plastering gang in Chiang Mai. They need to be able to produce a 'polished concrete' finish. Most plasterers can do this but not all.

What do you mean by "a polished concrete finish"? Like a smooth concrete floor or what ?

'polished concrete' The concrete/cement render isn't actually polished, but just smoothed and left in its natural state as the finish. No painting. This finish is referred to as 'Kadman' in Thai. Hope someone knows someone who can do a good job of this type of finish

Great picture, that makes it really clear what you want. Sorry, the guys I know would not be able to do it for you, they stick to more conventional jobs.

I don`t think it`s a plasterer you need, but rather a sculptureer.

I know many plasterers, but none that would take on that sort of work.

I would try seeking a profession building specialist, but it`s going to cost you.

Best to have a re-think, if I was you.

Concrete (hard) is not plaster (soft). You cannot produce a polished finish with plaster as you can with concrete.

Not often BB that I have any reason to disagree with you but you can bring plaster up to a polished finished.

It's done in hospitals (particularly) all around the developed world, but yes, I would imagine it might be very difficult to find anyone here in the realm with the necessary skills to do it.

You just can't grab some 'hill tribe boy' and expect the same results.

Consequentely I would agree if you are talking about here in the realm.

You have to remember that in "developed countries" people served a 4.5 - 5.0 year apprenticeship to learn how to be a competent solid plasterer.

But then it is the same for every trade in the realm whether it is a carpenter, joiner, cabinet maker, electrician, plumber, butcher, painter, hairdresser, etc., etc.

Probably even a good candle stick maker would be hard to find here :)
