Going To Thailand For First Time

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I am planning or should I say winging? My first trip to Thailand.

This trip for the best I can describe is going to be a last minute diversion. I will be cutting short my vacation back to the states, returning to the Middle East where I work and staying long enough in the ME to catch first flight to Thailand. Approx 5 days in Thailand is the best I can accomodate this time. The closest I have been is 2 tours in S. Korea. 92 and 01. I give this info so any hopeful info will understand that I am not new to being overseas and as I may be going to Thailand alone, I am used to traveling and roaming abroad alone. I am looking for the nightlife aspect. (.) Most places I have been it is suggested not to be alone. Got it. I have done so anyways. I am living in an envirnment where they try to milk the american every chance they get, I'm wise to it. But I have not been to Thailand.

That said I hope for any info that anyone will provide. All info is welcome. Im not yet sure if Bankok or Pataya. Thanks to all in advance! :)

You will enjoy Thailand better than most places. I would recommend Bangkok, just more options there, from high to low life.Best bet for you for starters would be a guest-friendly hotel in Suknumvit area, somewhere between Soi 4 and Soi 24 (Soi is a larger side-street going off from Sukhumvit, which is a large avenue). Look for hotel around 1000-1800 baht/night (includes breakfast). Check the hotel section here or visit Stickman site. Check out the action at Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy, something there is certain to please you.
