Just got the wife her 2 yr multiple visa for the UK, I've just been stamped until Feb 2006 with a multiple re-entry so its time to pop home for a hoilday, While we're in the UK I'd like to go to France for a weekend with the wife.

Could someone please advise me on-

French embassy BKK location.

Prices.

How to apply, papers needed etc etc.

I've looked on the French embassy website and although i can sometimes put together some french, I'm too rusty to read all of the details.

Merci Beaucoup :o

Dave, as I stated in my last post, you can get a shengen Visa from a tour operator. We just booked Eurostar, gave them my wifes passport and it returned stamped when we picked up the tickets.

Careful.

If you're RESIDENT in the UK, you can get the visa in the UK (i.e. at the French embassy in South Kensington), and if issued there to a UK resident, it is free.

If you're only going to the UK on holiday - you really are supposed to do it here, if this is where you're resident. (and you might well end up paying as she's not a UK resident).

Admittedly, I think the French embassy in the UK will probably grant you a visa if you apply there, but you might have to ask nicely to persuade them to let you apply there as they're not obliged to accept applications from non-residents.

Admittedly, I know one person in the UK who went to France on holiday (with a Thai passport), who never bothered getting a visa (boyfriend sprang it as a surprise), and the only hassle they ran into was getting back into the UK. (she was in the UK on a single-entry visa, but managed to talk them into accepting that a surprise birthday trip to France didn't somehow count as leaving...). Unbelievably, there are times when UK immigration can be nice, although it possibly helped that the passport confirmed it was her birthday, and the boyfriend explained it was all his fault.

I wonder what this means in my own case...me (US) and the wife want to stop in the UK to pick up my son and continue to Paris-Disneyland. She should be able to get a UK visa here OK (got two 6 mo visas from the Abu Dhabi embassy in the past). Wonder if it is routine for travel agencies to issue visas for other EU countries on the strength of having a UK visa.

There is no requirement to be resident in the UK but, rather, a family member of an EU national.

Scouse.

In all visa matters - I have no doubt that you are correct and I am wrong. Although I am a bit surprised, as I've seen people having to beg to be allowed to apply at the French embassy in London. (although I think it was probably spouses of Americans who didn't realise that their UK visa didn't cover France :o ).

Dave,

everything is possible, but generally Shengen visa should be applied in country of residence. As your wife got the UK-visa already this should be a strong indication that she does not want to stay in France. :o (Usually, these guys are afraid of overstaying visitors)

Visa-fee Euro 35.00 (about Baht 1800)

Bangkok Section consulaire

Adr. : 29 Sathorn Tai Road - Bangkok 10120

Tél : [66] (2) 657 51 51

Fax : [66] (2) 657 51 55

(That's coming from Lumpinee in direction outbound, towards the river on the left side, about 500 m (?) from the main crossing, pass German and before Australian embassy. If you come by car, park at Sukothai hotel for free)

Here a link in English to the French, incl. downloadable application form etc.
