Terrace Roofing, What Material?

Recommended Posts

we've got terraces to the front and rear of our 3 connected shophouses and use regular roofing sheets. I'd think carefully about selecting transparent material; if we didn't have full protection from the sun it would not be possible to sit there during the day. The rear terrace also serves as a kitchen/dining area as well as an outdoor lounge...the front terrace is where the wife has her flower garden...

Consider the shades made of sunproof sailcloth. This is a very popular architectural alternative these days and would be perfect for your need. There is a shop specializing in this at Boat Lagoon in Phuket. They have an advert in every issue of Phuket Gazette.

yeah...I've noticed that in the Gulf area in the ME fabric sunshades in car parks are popular;we had them at our site offices on my last job in saudi...not totally opaque but enough to keep the vehicle interiors from being like furnaces...there was little rainfall but high humidity from being in a coastal location; local conditions would have to be closely scrutinized before selecting materials for this option...

First fabric roof installed in Thailand was in 1992 - the dome roof over the podium of President Park Sukhumvit 24.

will give her call, but, as it's a major international company doing huge projects, they might not care about doing a very small job. So still looking.

They have modular systems and umbrellas that may be suitable for your purpose:
