Fire In Chaweng Beach Last Night

Hi!

There was a fire next to the Chaweng Cabana Resort last night, does anyone know what happened?

We came home around 10pm after a nice Isaan-dinner and suddenly my father in law said he saw very much smoke in the sky through the window. All family rushed out on the balcony and we all saw the smoke. It came from somewhere near the beach.

After a few minutes we saw ambulances rushing towards the beach.

We went to the area as well but the police had stopped all trafic on the beach road in the area.

All we could see was the fire departmentcar all jamed in between two houses with the front facing the chaweng beach road.

On one of the house walls i saw the text "Samui Cabana resort", the other one i could not see.

Anyone know anything more about what happend or if anyone was injured?

Hope nobody was hurt.

i herd that a garbage truck crashed into a bank and caught fire. to the bank aswell as the truck. think it hit the electric lines. i was in chaweng international hospital thats was the nurses told me.

What happened was the usual beach idiots let off fireworks and with an onshore breeze, they flew into the grass roof of the restaurant yet the tessaban bans roofs of grass for just this reason !

isn't it what you saw the bin collecting truck totally burned at the lake?

it looks like fire started from the front of the truck.

The OP says the fire was on the evening of the 27th near to or at the Chaweng Cabana, south Chaweng. The garbage truck fire occurred at least the evening of the 26th (or even the 25th) and was in the north of Chaweng. Can't be the same incident. Saw the garbage truck totally burned out in the drivers cabin. TOT were there in numbers repairing burnt out lines in front and next to the old Coco Blues.

No it was not the garbage car, we saw it earlier the same day by the lake.

The fire we saw was on the 27th and around 10 pm. There were HUGE flames and lots of smoke. We live close to the mainroad, not far from PTT and Bangkok hospital and we could see the fire clearly from our balcony.
