Hi, I'm Robby 28Y and currently living in Belgium.

I go back to Thailand 15 december '09 till 13 januari '10.

Then i stay 2 month in Belgium and go back on 22 marche for 1 year on a ED permit.

After this i would like to stay permanent in Thailand.

My girlfriend is Thai and i would like to marry her in august '10.

So when would be the best time to apply for a permanent residence permit?

Kind regards Robby

After you are Married you can get 12 monthly extensions of stay if you have 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank OR 40,000 Baht monthly income. Plus a few other things.

You have to re apply every year.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Not sure this is not a troll post as you posted the exact same question some time ago but just again read the link "PoorSucker" gives.

After reading it you will most likely learn that you Robby are not in a position to apply for a Permanent Residency here in Thailand until you have worked here for at least 3 years as Lite Beer says.

Being married to a Thai will NOT give you an automatic PR or permision to stay and work in Thailand.

You need a job here that will give you a workpermit and or 40.000 per month or 400.000 bath in the bank to get a 1 year visa if your married to a Thai. Finding work here is very hard due to workpermit regulations for foreigners.

Read a lot on Thai visa so you know what you are getting into... good luck

And there has not been a RP issued since September 19. 2006 In a previous post the MFA will not consider them untill sometime in 2010.

I believe you are right in saying that no PR has been issued since 2006 and those who applied in 2006, 2007 and 2008 have heard nothing. But I don't think there has been any announcement that they will actually be considered even in 2010. Anyway the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has nothing to do with PR. Actually why they are sitting on 3 years of applications and now presumably taking in a new round in Dec 2009. It can't be blamed on any one interior minister because there have been several since 2007 and in the past revolving doors of governments and interior ministers didn't stop them approving the PR applications within 12 months.
