Transfer car from my company to me - Is there a way to avoid or reduce VAT?
1) OK, understood now about the depreciation. 2) This seems a very good way. But as I wrote in the original post, I have 2 cars, not sure this will be looked at with such a story (water damage). Also, a Thai friend told me that I should sell the car first before closing the company, instead of closing and transfer without actually paying into the company account. This way I should be able to sell the car at any price (e.g. 100,000 Baht) and there should be no additional tax when closing the company as the asset is gone. I guess I also would need to sell to a friend first and not directly to me as a shareholder. What is your opinion on this approach? -

Bangkok Bank statement doesn't show correct description for Wise transfers
Just stumbled upon this revived thread. I recently had started one about WISE and Kasikorn. 1) Bangkok Bank: for many years I transfer from WISE to Bangkok Bank using funds for long term stay as a purpose. Always shown as FTT in the book and much better as international funds transfer in the account statements, 2) Kasikorn Bank: I recently did a test from WISE to Kasikorn using general living expense as purpose. It arrives in seconds. The book does NOT show a FTT or the like but just as TRN (transfer no book). Account statement in English language shows "Trade Finance Deposit". Not very obvious. BUT: statement in Thai language clearly labels it as a foreign transaction. Credit goes to @Upnotover See here; -

Some things do smell fishy. The US economy may carry debt, but it is the strongest recovering major economy since Covid. And much stronger than Thailand, which also has just announced trillions in infrastructure projects and is still promising 10,000 cash for the digital wallet. Plus the Shins intend to get their people to bust the interest rate at the Bank of Thailand back to much lower levels. Whose economy would you rather have, the US or Thailand's? That's why the baht strength seems scammy. -

If you are traveling to the UK and you watch live streams on YouTube (or any other platform) using your laptop or mobile phone, you would technically need a TV license. The UK law requires a TV license for watching any live broadcast on any device, whether it's a TV, computer, mobile phone, tablet, or game console. This applies to both residents and visitors in the UK. The law is an ass comes to mind. -

I think we use to pay a departure tax and maybe an entrance tax which was added to your airline ticket. Later it was all scrapped and looks like a new 300 Bhat tax.Not a big deal but seems like a desperate measure. Thailand is no longer a cheap destination and adding more taxes makes it less attractive. I like the idea of adding the fee to the ticket or better still just forget about it. -

I Hate Donald Trump
Love the guy. A flawed human being of that there is no doubt, but exactly what does/did he do to endear so much hatred. Nothing - no more than anyone else in politics - especially the Bidens. But when you have millions of delusional people and you throw attack after attack after attack, and then add the media lies and distortions, and the result is millions who hate the guy. Some even enough to want to shoot him and others enough that they wanted him dead. Truly we are in a woke liberal world where being an awful human being that would want a politician dead is somehow OK. Never had much problem with dual pricing. Hard to see how even in bad cases it could be a financial risk to staying here. But I guess once you’ve been around you know the prices in market type places. But I do try and get quotes on vehicle repairs/maintenance and then just scan it for the translation. Once you do that you can Google prices. Also be careful in those big shops where they have a million things and no prices. It sometimes seems they quote the first figure that comes into their head
