Basketball In Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

im coming back to chiang mai in february!

im planning to stay longer, and im looking for some possibilitys to play basketball on a regular basis

is there any club/league system ?and is it possible to join it as a farang`?

im a 198cm (6'6) and 110 kg (240 lbs) power forward / center

last time i visted i was quite lighter - maybe 200 lbs. and the thais started to refuse playeing with me after 2 weeks already :-(

so im looking for either good match ups on some courts around chiang mai, or maybe a club i can join.

i also coached kids n youngsters up to 18 years of age in india and germany, if you know any opportunity to coach in chiang mai im also thankfull

best regards

Will aka Mr Rebound

@ 198cm and 110 kg, im surprised they let you play for that long

could be different if you took up muay thai thou :)

Better put on more weight if you want to work underneath. Seriously basketball will be in full swing when you get here. The International schools more than likely will have impromptu practice on Saturdays/Sundays afternoon. Coaching for the next year may be possible, check with athletic directors. Dara always fields a good basketball team (Thai school) and they normally have someone playing who will match your weight but maybe not the height. good luck
