Burning Mp3s

Featured Replies

I want to put 50 or so songs on disc and also an audio book (on another disc). I have encoded the files to MP3, using Winamp Pro. The files were winamp files.

Windows Media Player will only burn 18 tracks and WinampPro says the file-size is much too big. (i.e. it's saying they're not mp3)

Any ideas, please? It isn't a difficult task or a rare acitivity, but I just can't do it.

Thanks

Sounds like you are trying to put too much on the CD. A standard CD holds 700MB or 80 minutes worth of music files. maybe you should try writing to DVD which has much more capacity. I burned some Christmas songs the other day and I could only fit 20 songs on the CD, MP3 format, using Windows Media Player.

Cheers, Rick

Use Nero or even Ashampoo, they can make MP3 CD's. I believe that WMP and Winamp only burn normal CDs.

you could also consider using Sony's Sonicstage which is a free download. There you can add what you want to its library and transfer to a Mp3 CD.

I use it to make mp3 cds of audio books and can get anything up to and over 20 hours on 1 cd.

OP,

1. check your audio files if it is mp3 format by right clicking and to properties.

2. make sure you are burning DATA not Audio (this will be asked after inserting a blank CD)

I (wrongly) presumed I needed audio, not data.

Thanks Explorer and welo. I'll try that.

You need to remember that audio CDs can be played on any audio CD player, while many (especially the older ones) cannot play data CDs. If you are just going to be playing them on your computer then there is nothing to worry about.

My plan is to play them on our Honda Jazz in-car standard cd/mp3 machine.

It worked a treat. Thanks all of you, especially, welo and Explorer!
