Does anyone know what "kee dtu" means?

I heard it this morning and am puzzled.

It could easily be 'Lao' as I am in Khon Kaen.

Sorry I can't write it as I only heard it!

It means to have a tendency to look or to like looking.

Kee means '<deleted>' and Dtu means 'cupboard'

Mayby it's some massive <deleted> in a cupboard

Hard to explain la.. but it's a combo of khee moh, khee prajob, khee koh hok, and sometimes flirty. it's a Thai slang, not Lao. Was the comment directed to you? Were you saying something that sounds unrealistic to the other party?

(The equivalent Thai word would be GOHOK โกหก).

ขี้ตู่ "kee dtu" means apt to make false claims. (from dictionary)

ตู่"dtu" means to claim falsely, to make a false claim for another’s possesion, to mistake , to assume ownership, to feign ownership, to acquire possession without justification. (from dictionary)

It isn't a slang word.

For example;

A guy : I know you love me.

A girl : kee dtu. (if the girl looks shy that means she love that guy. If the girl sound serious that means she is angry and she doesn't love that guy)

Or,

A : This car is mine. Dad bought it for me.

B : Don't claim falsely. ( อย่ามาตู่นะ) Dad bought it for us not only for you. Grrrrrr

Interesting to compare with the strong, ตอเเหล dtor lair, meaning a habitual and\or brazen liar, perhaps we could say on the bullshit scale ตู่ dtoo, ranks a lot lower,

'teacher,I've done the homework,'(he hasn't really-false claim but not exactly malicious in intent).

Thinking about it the word 'bullshit' really does sweep with too wide a brush, covering everything from to exaggerate -อวด, to boast- โม้, to to lie- โกหก

Anyway, I think the'khee-joo' is the southern equivalent of 'liar', as RDN is based in Phuket perhaps he could fill us in on this, not that this word has been ever thrown his way of course......

Thanks for explaining how that song came about, bannork. I know it from my old local in Bangkok which used to play farang music all night, until about 3:30am (this was in the "good old days" of 4 or 5 o'clock closing) at which time they would play Thai songs. I think this was just to get the last few girls left in the bar dancing and singing, so that they might not have to go home alone . Anyway, I used to laugh at the way they'd sing "Go hok, baby" right in the face of the holidaying farangs, who hadn't a clue that they were being called "liars" to their face. Very entertaining.

Absolutely never ! Anyway, straight from the horse's mouth (not that I would ever use that expression within earshot of my g/f ), this is where she reckons the different variants come from:

Go hok - Bangkok

Kee tua - Isaan

Kee ju - Chiang Mai

Kee hok - South

Can anyone else's significant other's confirm?
