Look at the forecast, rain and some more rain.

This is again an unreliable forecast, including in a sticky gives it way too much authority.

It rained quite hard yesterday evening in Kata and Patong. This morning was cloudy, but cleared up before mid-day. Let's give the forecaster a chance.

Looks pretty black out there now - rain coming
And that is the problem with this and other forecasts: one rainshower a day means the whole day looks black.

Here in Kata nice and sunny today, no rain, but (my forecast) there could be some rain this evening/night.

Where's the data from? Would be nice to know who this "forecaster" is?

Probably from a few sources, but the most accurate I've seen is accuweather http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-...=1&hbhday=1 which gives an hourly forecast, but still it could be raining in Kathu, Patong and Kamala, while sunny in Kata and Rawai.

Those of us who live on Phuket Island well know that some part of the island can have rain, and other parts completely dry. I've seen rain for a few hours at one end of Karon beach, and the other end completely dry.

I suppose forecaster have to give an area rain forecast even if it only rains for 5 minutes, often the case here.

I'm very interested to know where on Phuket it rained yesterday between 7.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. I drove around the whole island and didn't have a drop of rain. Maybe I was just lucky as the forecast said it would rain the whole day. I truely believe some idiots cancel their plans to come to Phuket based on these so called weather predictions. Thanks for helping.

Yesterday (Monday) it looked like rain here in Kata about 17,00 with very dark skies. Must have rained somewhere. It did rain here in Kata overnight.

Yes, and because of that it says 'dark skies and rain' for the whole day.

That means this weather cast is just like all other forecasts: useless, even stronger, it gives people a completely wrong impression about the weather here. And remember, this weather forecast claims to give detailed information about different parts of the island.

It rained here in Pakhlok (four kms. east of Heroines' Monument) yesterday at about 4pm. Not a lot, but it did rain. We could see it was raining very heavily a few kms. further east, for quite a while.

The evening before, Sunday, we had a proper, serious downpour for about half an hour.

Rained here good and solid last night.. In fact all this last few days its been a bit unseasonal.

With any forecast in such a changeable place theres going to be slight parts out, but it said rain and we got rain. Cant help wondering if the need to say it didnt rain relates to good news only biz promo.. Phuket is a tropical island, it rains in the tropics, not a big deal surely. Its still hot and periods of bight sun in between.

Yes, agree with you, it did rain, in Rawai and Kata in the evening and night.

But the weather forecast said: cloudy and rainy. Whereas during the day it was nice and sunny. Around 17.00 hours there came some dark clouds in Kata, and in the evening it rained. But that is not the impression the forecast gave for yesterday, nor for today. Again it says cloudy and rainy, again it is nice and sunny. And yes, it may rain again in the evening. So anybody looking at the forecast gets a completely wrong idea of the weather.

Erm.. Full cloud sky to me.. Horizon to horizon looking out over Kathu valley..

Looks like actual rain on the phuket town / Lotus area as its greyed out.

So from my location its bang on.

So you think the forecast, cloudy with rain, gives a true picture of today's weather?

OK Caption this picture ??

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs ??

To me.. <1km visibility.. Dense cloud cover.. Actual rain..

perfect forecast for whats outside my window.

At the moment, yes, but not until 16.00 hours IMO. So that is why I think these forecasts are not just not correct, they give the wrong impression.

IMO today was nice and sunny with at the end of the afternoon clouds and some rain, but in your opinion today was a cloudy and rainy day. So we seem to disagree.

Cracking view LivinLOS. Is that actually from your house?

Anybody that would make any plans around a weather forecast in a tropical place like this is a little daft if you ask me. As someone said, it could be raining at one end of the beach and not at the other, so how can any forecast be of any use what so ever.

If anyone else fancies livening this slightly dull thread up with pictures of the view from their house, I would be most interested, jealous, but interested.

Its the tropics.. It rains. I actually love it (when not on my bike) as I am one who finds the full on temps a little too sweaty..

I just think as far as a forecast went, it wasnt fundamentally wrong.. But its only a weather forecast, not running off to Ladbrokes to make a claim on it..

@WooHoo.. Yeah thats the living room level out over the country club and the new water park.. Get great air in this house.

In that case......what's the point of this thread?

And your point is ... ??

I'm just stating that it very difficult to exactly forecast the weather by the hour by a local area on Phuket Island. I think that Thaivisa's forecast is very general for Phuket island. And the rain symbol has indeed been correct if you consider that it actually rained somewhere on the island.

My point is (if you couldn't fathom it) is yet another inacurate (acurate by your standards) weather forecast to add to the many others.

Waste of bandwidth.

I have a simple solution. Don't click on that link if you feel that way... :)

so why was there no sunsymbol? There was sun for most of the day in most areas.

I have no idea ...

Kinda proves my point.

But I am not forecasting the weather ... :)

Seriously folks, as far as I can see Thaivisa has made an attempt to publish area forecasts. I'm not going to say anymore ....
