Saijai Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hello all! Was wondering if anyone knew what would be best for me to do... I am here in Samui for 4 months and my initial 60 days is coming to an end. So the dreaded visa run is due. I was here before in 2004 but the rules have changed since. Apparently if I go to Burma it will only give me 15 days and If I got to Malaysia it will give me one month. (or so they said) If I go to Nathong and get my Visa Stamped will it be a stamp for 1 month or 15 days? Any responses would be great! Thanks! Saijai
smokie36 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 You should get 30 days at Nathon. If I remember correctly it costs 1900 baht
PoorSucker Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 All land borders will give you 15 days. By air, 30 days.
Lite Beer Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Yes. 30 days at Immigration 1,900 Baht. 30 days arriving by air. 15 days arriving by land. A bit late but you should have got a double entry visa before you arrived.
screamingeagle Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I've been here a few years now and every time I think I understand the visa rules, they go and change them!!!
PoorSucker Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 A border run can be made in a day. I recommend julies visa run.

Saijai Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 You should get 30 days at Nathon. If I remember correctly it costs 1900 baht Can I get it stamped at Nathon only once? Cannot remember. Also does anyone know what the over stay fine is daily?
PoorSucker Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 You can only do the extension once per entry. If you make an extension now you must go for a border run in 30 days. Overstay is 500 baht/day.

PoorSucker Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 They are probably talking about getting a visa in Malaysia. The border run you can make in one day. Juliee leaves on the first ferry and comes back to the 5.00 PM ferry.

Just write down the visa number on your arrival card. Check that the stamped you for 60 days, they make mistakes all the time.
Lite Beer Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 As said , Burma will cost you $10 to enter. Malaysia will not. There and back in a day if you wish.

However if you prefer you can extend each visa by 30 days in Nathon which would give you 6 months instead of 4.
