Taxi Fares

Featured Replies

Can anyone suggest a reasonable taxi fare from Chiang mai to the Elephant Conservation centre outside Lampang? Going to stay there for three days but need to be there by 8 30 am. I guess I just organise wth a taxi sirecly but some indication on what would be reasonable would be helpful

Thanks

The place you want to go to is right next to the main highway to Bangkok, try asking the bus companies if they will drop you at the turn off which is only 1 km to the Elephant Centre. If you search google maps you will find there too.

HI

Thanks for that, looks to be a good option. the first bus (according to web site) leaves Chiang Mai at 6 30 then hourly after that. You appear to be a local, is the walk from the drop off point reasonable? I don't want to start the experience with a huge hill climb :)

Other alternative was to visit Lampang the day before (never been there) and make my way from lampang first thing in the morning. Would there be transport from Lampang early enough and is Lampang acool place to visit overnight?

Help is appreciated

There is a bit of a hill but if you are of average fitness it should not be a problem. I would check that the bus will drop you off there, there is good signs there in English. Perhaps if you call the Elephant people they will pick you up.
