I was there last week. On the drive back to Heathrow from Plymouth everywhere was covered in snow. Yes it was very very cold. It snowed in Plymouth which hardly ever happens.

I think that is why I enjoyed it so much. It was great fun, and it really did look like a winter wonderland but I wouldn't want to live in those conditions on a regular basis or for an extended period of time.

only snow I will tolerate is the frost in my cheapo fridge. or the ice in my gin and tonic (hats off to totster for the reference tho!)

For me, it may be fun for several days (not weeks!) if I don't have to go to work/do any errands at this time and can stay at home/take a walk around.

For those of you who are there, now you can relate to why I chose to leave Canada! 24 inches of snow, and -20C weather is not a big deal in Canada, that is a typical winter (with it being worse than that in many parts).

It's very beautiful when you first see the snow outside, but after a few weeks of it, and the dirty slush/ice crap that coats the streets and sidewalks, you begin to realize that winter is not fun. That's why all of the posts complaining about living here pale in comparison to my memories of Canadian winters.
