Sometimes when I am navigating the forum in the wee hours (after 2 AM) I get the following error on a plain white screen. Refreshing does not reoad the page. Restarting the computer seems to be the solution.

Does it happen to anyone else, or just me?

Trying to figure out if it is a problem on my end or the TV server.

IPB WARNING [2] mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) (Line: 120 of /ips_kernel/class_db_mysql.php)

There appears to be an error with the database.

It's the nightly backup that runs after 02.00 BKK time. We are aware of the problem, and the techs are working on it. We need another bigger harddisk for the backup.

Thanks for the reply guys!

I guess that by the time I have restarted and reconnected, the backup is done!

Glad to know it isn't my problem! :o

Thanks for the explanation George - it was getting a pain in the neck tonight - it lasted several minutes. Now I know to go make a cuppa at 2am :o

Of course, you could schedule the backups at, say 6 am Thai time, and let the yanks and brits have the problem :D:D:D

Scheduling the backups for 6 AM sounds like a good idea for all of us who live in LOS, but realistically I'll start using it as the cue to unglue myself from this highly addictive forum and take my sorry a$$ to bed! :D

:o I schedule my own anti-virus updates, anti-spyware updates and scanning at around 5 am for that very reason. (But I often cancel the scanning and carry on.. :D )
