Interesting Tale From Wwii

Beautiful story about beautiful people. thanks.

Never had the first idea Chiang mai was involved in the war in that way. I thought it all happened down around Kanchanaburi. Fascinating.

Very much enjoy reading this heroic acts.

Was touched by the kindness from the Thais to POW from foreign county (UK).

Thanks 'Ferd54' for sharing this amazing story.

Very interesting and well written ( by the CIA). The personal story was very moving and gives a nice perspective on those Thais that were helping the resistance. Some have compared Thai resistance to the French but that may be a little unfair. The French resistance had to contend with the Vichy government but had strong allied support. Circumstances in Thailand precluded such support here and the Thai government was in stronger control. Which makes the courage of the child in the story more poignant.

CM rail station was bombed of course but the real targets were on the line from bangkok to chiangmai deep in the jungle where repair work by the japanese was more difficult. They were safer targets too for the allied raids.
