Waiver Letter

Please please help me. I know this has been done before somewhere but I can't find it. I need to find out really quick what we need to send to Teachers council to get a second waiver letter.

The problem we have is that someone in our personel department is overuling everything that we say we need.

As we are not actually applying for a license do we need the application forms?

I have checked several posts on several different forums and the main theme seem to be a "begging letter" from the school( great teachers, lots of experience, asset to the school etc.)

Obviously copies of passport and work permit would be required???? What about a copy of a new contract?

Please could someone the info I need or a link to a site so I can show some evidence to our administrator.

Have a look at the last few pages and that might be helpful. The biggest problem for most people is that they don't get the visa extension or Work Permit without the license or waiver. If your school is able to do that, then I wouldn't worry--at least not now.

Most people need the exemption to work here LEGALLY (assuming that they do not possess a TL). Since the teachers license tests are only offered an average of about once per year, and since the tests are next to impossible to pass, the applicant may have to wait another full year to take a retest, so in a nut shell the exemption letter coincides with the Non B visa and WP. it also ensures that the whole kingdom does not deplete their schools of legal foreign teachers overnight!

To the OP: depending on where you are, you can physically go to the TC with your new contract and ask for the waiver letter. Depending on their mood you will probably get it. We were "encouraged" to sign up for the tests to make our second waiver easier, both for us and administration, the focus being not so much passing on the first try, (or even second or third for that matter), but keeping everyone legal. I am aware of the whole Teachers' Council of Thailand thing. What we currently see is a huge inconsistency in enforcing their rules. It is reported that some Immigration Offices but not all, want to see the TCT Teacher License or at least the TCT exemption letter. It is not reported that Labour Offices or Schools are asking for it although this might change in the future.

So my question is, which of the parties is asking for the teacher license or exemption? If it is Immigration, I would love to know which one.

I can only speak from personal experience. Up here in the sticks, both Immigration and the labor office require a license or the exemption letter and they retain a copy on file along with the same same same redundant documents that are submitted every year. This has been standard practice ever since the waiver came into effect.

Thank you very much for this info, mizzi39. The Immigration Office designated to our provinces require the TCT teacher license or exemption. Currently Labour is okay with a teaching permission letter for the Educational Service Area.
