Not tried myself but someone I know enquired recently. It appears that although Ireland has tightened the immigration rules recently in line with the rest of Europe, tourist visas are not particularly a problem.

For a tourist visa, the basic requirement is that the Thai can get a letter to confirm that they are returning to full time employment or education. Also show you or her should have sufficient funds for their stay and hotel booking or if staying at a private home, an invitation from an Irish citizen. Not sure if a NI address will be a problem there, might be easier to spend a night in Dublin. If she doesn't have full time employment (e.g. bargirl) I assume they'd ask for a deposit of funds in some way.

In my recent experience, the staff of the KL embassy are extremely helpful. The consulate in Bangkok has... less of a reputation. Okay, it has a reputation for telling everyone to go away, and I've also had experience of this. On the other hand I was there recently and they seemed normal enough, so perhaps things have improved. Anyway, you'll be told to call to them first.

As with anywhere, dress politely, follow the rules, etc.

Also bear in mind that if the person concerned got an Irish visa and then stayed with you in N. Ireland she would be there illegally. If she came to the attention of either the UK Immigration Service or the PSNI she'd be liable to arrest, detention and being summarily kicked out.

Scouse.

This is a good site to look for more info on marriage to an Irish citizen. http://www.oasis.gov.ie/

(Use the search function)

If you read the wrong article it looks like a married spouse can never become a citizen - actually I think it's just that they now apply through naturalisation rather than having a separate process. Apparently there's no such thing as a fiance visa. Since Irish law has always required everyone to give three month's notice of intention to marry, I suppose it's not needed.

Unless you plan on moving across the border, I doubt this is a feasible route for you.

I have a similar post here. But I think you need a UK visa not Irish. We haven't got the 6 counties back yet.
