I've just downoladed the latest update for itunes and now the palyback is really choppy and has loads of electronic static sound. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this? Should I go back to version 8 or is there a fix for this. It's really annoying. Not the first time an itunes update has messed up the way the previous version was working.

You might want to try a clean install. Use the Windows Control Panel to uninstall your current version of iTunes; download and the most recent version of iTunes for your OS. (Don't worry about any purchased audio/video files or your other iTunes music/data files, these are not removed and will be automatically loaded into new iTunes).
