Hi all,

I've been living in Thailand for the past year on a 1 year extension of stay based on a marriage to a Thai + 400K in the bank. This 1 year is about to expire in a couple of weeks. I've read through the forum but it's not clear what kind of visa do I need to apply for and where in order to extend my stay for another year.

Thanks,

Andre

You do not need to apply for any kind of visa. Just apply again for an annual extension of stay, same procedure as last year.

OK, thanks. Do you know how long before expiry I need to apply?

Correct. Don't wait until the last day. You say your current extension expires in two weeks, which means you can apply for your new extension already now.

The difference between last year's (first) application and now is that the 400K have to be in the bank for three months compared to two months for fist time application.

Also last year the OP may not yet have needed the copy of the marriage ledger which is now required.

Some offices only need the money to be in the bank for 2 months.

Also not every office requires the Marriage Registry entry.

As we know they are all different. :)

Thanks all for your replies. Here's an update from today's visit to the immigration. There were no real issues, we submitted the following:

Passport

Letter from the bank

Bank book showing 400K, it was kept above this level since last year but she asked anyway if it's showing this amount for the past 2 or 4 months (didn't mention 3 months).

4 photographs of us at the house

House map

Marriage certificate

Marriage registry (tor dor 2) - she specifically asked for this.

Wife ID

Wife house registration

Application form + 1 passport photo

1900 Baht application fee

All documents were original plus 1 photocopy, including entire passport and bank book.

I got a 30 days stamp saying the application is under consideration and to return back in 30 days exactly for the stamp. Pretty much the same as last year.
