On Tuesday Afternoon, a team of officers based at the Dongtan Police Station on Jomtien Beach were made aware of an unlicensed cock-fighting event which was taking place in an area of woodland located close to the Boonganjanaram Temple located close to the southern end of the beach. A team of officers were assembled and made their way to the location. More than 50 Thai Men were seen at the location and were gambling on the outcome of fights between cockerels. Police moved in and managed to detain 23 men and seized 10 cockerels, some showing injuries sustained during fights. No one accepted responsibility for the seized cockerels, therefore Police charged the men with gambling offences and will attempt to locate and arrest the organizer of the illegal event.
