I have to go do my 90 day reporting on 1st of march as stated in my passport but this day is a big day in the Buddhist calender and was wondering if anyone knows if this woulod affect it being open or not?

I don't want to go a day late as it states it will be a 5000 baht fine for every day late.

But I wouldn't want to do the 100 km drive if it's shut....

Monday is an official government holiday. They will be closed.

For 90 day reports you have a 7 day window, no fine for doing up to 7 days late and you can do it up to 7 days early. You can also report by mail.

By law the fine can be up to 5,000 baht but have never seen that amount charged and the SOP is 2,000 baht if more than 7 days late and you report without being asked. In any case a holiday normally extends any report until the next workday.

This is what I'm reading from the piece of paper that has been stapled in my passport...

TO NOTIFY OF STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS

The ALIEN permitted to stay longer in the kingdom must notify your place of residenceto the immigration office every 90 days;

case of application for extensionof temporarystay in the kingdomby TM.7 you have notified your place of residenceat the first time.

Any ALIEN who fails to comply with, will be punished with a fine not exceeding 5000 baht for each day which passesuntil the law is complied with.

ACCORDING TO IMMIGRATION ACT B.E.2552 SECTION 76

To notify again 1st March

All I asked is if anyone knows if Udon immigration office will be open on monday 1st march as it's a big Buddhist day.

I don't really need conflicting stories about how much the fine is. I'm gonna go with what it says on the paper in my passport.

I've tried phoning today but being saturday I guess it's closed.

I'll probably drive there on monday anyway as I know how pendantic they can be.

Thanks for your help..

I didn't realise it was a public holiday until saturday morning otherwise I would have

From what I'm reading it'd definitely closed on monday.

Also talking to a friend who's been stung by immigration for the same reason. Reporting day was a holiday. I guess it's my own fault for not checking. How are the Thai immigration supposed to know 1st March is a huge day in the Buddhist calender and that it's a public holiday?

The holiday is mentioned on their website but you do not have a problem. Go on Tuesday. :)

From Immigration Website.

1. The foreigner makes the notification in person, or

2. The foreigner authorises another person to make the notification, or

3. The foreigner makes the notification by registered mail.

4. The notification must be made within 7 days before or after the period of 90 days expires.

5. The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

Thank you for the information.

Do you happen to have the link to their website? I can't seem to find it

Thanks
