The auctions are held monthly at Carrefour and Big C - at least they were months ago. But I would not recommend them. Even the Thais seemed confused about the complicated (and unusual) bidding process and who knows what you will end up with.

Go to the motorcycle markets at Ruam Chok Market or San Patong. As I recall the San Patong market is from 6:00-12:00 on Saturdays while the Ruam Chok market is also on weekends but I forget what day and when it starts. Some sellers there even offer a money back guarantee. Make sure the paperwork is in order.

Auction in Thailand seems to have a new meaning. I have noted bidders changing their mind (withdraw bid) the minimum bid for sale to be completed changed (raised). The idea of waving a hand or vocal approval for a price sought can be confused with greeting and salutations between acquaintances. The experience is worth a chuckle but would not want to be a participant in the process.
