A Norwegian national residing in Pattaya has had his home burgled and items totalling approximately 300,000 baht stolen. At present the only suspect in the case is a disgruntled gardener who he had fired 2 weeks prior to the incident.

It pays to have private security if you own a stand alone house in Pattaya. I know this is relatively expensive, but so much else is cheap that it worth it if you have stuff worth stealing. At least have a bulit in safe for small items.

Communicate other foreigners in the immediate area with similar concers and share the cost. If you are really stand alone then just pay for the secuity and be lucky you were robbed when nobody was home. I have a friend whose wife's face was slashed with a knife by a burgular in Pattaya a few years ago.
