A friend of mine was at The Boat Bar in Paradise (Patong) last night (02/03/2007).

He told me that someone was shot in the head in the bathroom upstairs. With all the noise downstairs it seems that most of the punters were unaware of the incident and carried on partying. It wasn't until the police removed the body that some punters became alarmed and left.

I haven't heard or seen any other reports of this; so do not know any further details.

Can anyone confirm this incident?

There's a story now in Phuket Gazette about a DJ found dead in his room at the Boat Bar. They said there were no signs of foul play which doesn't sound like he was shot in the head.

PATONG, PHUKET: A DJ at the popular Boat Bar in Patong was found dead in his bedroom above the venue last night.

Police believe 35-year-old Ratchanon Bawonsakulchart, known as ‘DJ Nat’, died of personal health problems.

Colleagues found Mr Ratchanon, who was from Bangkok, dead on his bedroom floor at around 8pm.

Boat Bar, located on the access road to the Royal Paradise Hotel, is one of many venues in the area that cater to gay tourists.

Kathu Police Inspector Sopon Borrirak said there were no signs of foul play or robbery at the scene, on the fourth floor of the building.

An examination at Patong Hospital suggested Mr Ratchanon suffered from diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure, in addition to being overweight.

Mr Ratchanon’s mother and younger sister today arrived on the island to take his body for cremation.
