Massive Failure For The Red Rally

TAWP

Recommended Posts

It really does amaze me how many people have blinkers on here, most of you actually think that Abhisit is for the good of Thailand when in fact he never ventures anywhere outside of Bangkok.

I would like some present facts on policys that are going to benefit Thai people....can anyone give me some? ?

Poor analagy - Dubwa ventured all over the place look what that did for America.

re your second point - Economic Stimulas packages - freeze on electric and water bills for low income / low users. Not introducing schemes like Thai Elite Card. I rest my case. :)

the thing has not even started in earnest yet and the same old posters on here proving their tediousness, how about waiting for tomorrow and Sunday, then make a judgement call, after all the rally is tomorrow and not today, today is small gatherings.

I sometimes wonder what people hope to achieve with such nonsense as this thread, do they think it makes one iota of difference to the actual happenings? do they think abhisit is reading this forum and getting excited because some nomark says not many reds have turned up, or do you think he is concerned with the facts rather than the ramblings of some old fool on a farang forum.

:-) Do you think Thaksin is reading this and looking for a future business partner? Do you think he is excited by your defense of him? I am not even going to presume that you are "an old fool" :)

The banks. Black Songkran. Wake up.

a couple of idiots threw grenades, red sympathisers but not instructed to do it, as for songkhran, what bombs are these? do you have links for bombings then, i recall shootings by the army but I don't recall bombings, please refresh my memory.

also I recall bombings in the south in hat yai, that is not in the four mentioned provinces in the south I believe, yet the insurgents still attacked it,

personally i would rather wait for proof or an admittance, just like I did with the poo throwing.

No, sir. It was REDS who did the bank bombings. Period. As far as Black Songkran, we had many MOLOTOV COCKTAILS, we had buses set aflame, we had reds threatening to blow up an entire slum district with a gas truck. I am glad I am not on your side trying to rationalize these kinds of heinous crimes. Its sickening.

Ummmm Tony ... Who was "shot by the army"? or do you mean that members of the army discharged their weapons? Thaksin told us 100's if not 1000's were killed by the army, how many are you going to tell us were killed by the army during the time that the Reds rioted and did millions upon millions of baht of damamges.

Correct, and now they are claiming the main Demonstration was not until Sunday anyway.

typical Thai face saver!

Has there been anything said this afternoon by the reds about how many they are now expecting for Sunday?

I assume today's protests were mostly Bangkok based red shirts. What was the totals for all the areas? Maybe 10,000?

As an outsider looking in on this crap, I can only laugh at all of them.

Each party releases details of what their plans will be to the media. The element of surprise doesn't make much sense to them I suppose, but if they want to win this, that is exactly what has to happen. The last time this country was at war, a real war, they were all riding elephants. They don't know how to plan, how to attack, how to organize, how to follow through, or how to strike at the right time when their enemy is not paying attention.

The bulk of the red shirts are only there because they are being paid. That alone is enough to cause failure. People who fight or protest because they BELIEVE in what they are protesting or fighting for, have a chance. Doing it for money, unless you're a merc, just doesn't work out.

I don't wish violence or anything bad on any of these people, but for the love of God, if you're going to do something... DO IT RIGHT! If you're going to take Bangkok, take it without warning, without exposing your plans on TV, and without wearing a red shirt. I can picture it, right now, trucks are driving down the street with people standing on the back, red shirts on, foot flappers in one hand, beer in another, not understanding why the police stop them, if they cops are even awake at the check points.

We can only hope for a peaceful ending to all of this, but truth be told, when they fail at protesting, they may turn violent as a last ditch effort. If the reds can't win this time, and I doubt they will, they need call it a wrap. They have become the clown army.

Schools...ask how many teachers are getting there contracts renewed next semester...i think you will be surprised!

He must like to go down south :D

For everyone's information Jatuporn said that they must win in three days. He claimed they would have a million people and could win on the first day (the 12th, today). That was a week or so ago.

We will see I guess. Right now it looks like victory on day one is unlikely.

Free education has gone down well in the lower northern and Chiang Rai villages I know. The Dems even took some local TAO seats where they had never ever won before on the back of this policy in the lower North.

Abhisit has visited Ubon.

However, this thread is about have the reds failed in their strategy and not about Dems polcies. There are many places they have been discussed before and can still be no doubt. So we shouldnt deflect this thread away from its topic

My school has renewed contracts for 95% of it's teachers (100% for farang staff) and is planning to increase it's staffing levels next year. I personally have seen about 7 new kindy teachers who got recruited just before the end of the year.

Next?.... :D

Wrong. I've seen him visit Isaan.

He just sticks to those parts that vote for the Democrats. Obviously.

A bit like you don't see Reds venturing to places they're not welcome.

I think the problem is that a lot of reds supporters get TOLD about all the bad things that Abhisit is doing and get TOLD about all the good things that Thaksin has done. But they haven't seen any of it first hand. It's just what they are TOLD.

Hammerd i take your point...just to say he visited the airport at Ubon and then flew directly by helicopter to the village escorted by two military helicopters and then back out again! with roadblocks set up stopping anyone getting close to him.

The REDS have not failed in there rally as most are travelling south now.

A good point but obviously issan having 19/20? provinces is a BIG part of Thailand!

Actually- if you check back to my earlier post, it seems that Nadtatida ignores you if you are right and have a salient point.

So far she has admitted that two of her original points were actually not defensible and I've given authentic rebuttal to the third.

Nadtatida?

Did he not plan to visit Chiang Mai but had to cancel due to death threats from the oh so democratic reds? Ignore me if I am wrong.

Correct, you cannot govern any country under those circumstances.

Although he is governing the country, despite those circumstances.

No relation really. They are following the orders of their leadership. The vast majority of people in Isaan will be staying HOME this weekend. A rally, large or small, peaceful or violent, doesn't necessarily mean your movement is entitled to topple a legitimately elected government. Sorry, that's not democracy, its rule of the angry mob.

They are not protesting because he is Abhisit, they are protesting because he is not Thaksin.

ANYBODY could be PM right now, but unless it is Thaksin NOBODY will be good enough

Maybe because they (probably not the poor themselves, but the thugs up there) don't allow the government to talk to the poor to explain what is being done. The poor only hear the Thaksin propaganda.

Agreed, this is about Thaksin's lust for power and money. The red peasants are being played like fools. The good news is that it now seems evident that a lot of his previous true believers have turned away from him. Maybe they didn't like Black Songkran. Maybe they didn't like the truth about Thaksin's corruption. Maybe they didn't like the Cambodian connection. In any case, there is no doubt his base has shrunk massively.

There is fertile ground for a MORALLY CREDIBLE PEACEFUL people power movement in Thailand. The red shirt Thaksinistas aren't it.

I feel bad for the rural poor. It is way past time they found some social revolution, but they have been conned into riding the Thaksin train because there is no confidence orr understanding that they can do it on their own. Truth is, they have the majority, they can forge their own destiny, but it will never work with Thaksin dragging them down. They really need to find a statesmen from their own ranks and come up with a constitution which represents the majority. Then they need to take it to the polls. It would really help if they would run the vote buyers out of town on a rail too, but I can't see that happening.

Anyone here have an opinion regarding the chances of Thaksin slipping into the country to appear on Sunday whilst everyone is busy counting red shirts, however few?

As my wife said when questioned about not wearing her crash helmet - "No police today!" :)

I think you will find they are protesting to overturn the current government,Thaksin admittedly is a figurehead for there cause right or wrong,if they were not funded then maybe they would stay home i do not know the answer to that, but lets not forget all political parties are funded one way or the other, but the point is they are going to Bangkok and are entitled to demonstrate against what they believe in.

With or without Thaksin they have the right to vote,if Thaksin disappears do you think it will all stop?

Ok so you think they need educating! by the clever people from Bangkok...Burma comes to mind?

A clean slate is what is needed.and a new leader for there party.
