No apology. If asking for elections is overthrowing the government, that is.

A couple of minutes checking this webboard and some googling would provide you with enough information see why the words being used are 'inciting the public to overthrow the government'.

- He has on numerous occasions threatened to kill ahbisit and others.

- He was the leader of the gang of thugs that smashed into the official car that he thought Abhisit was in at the Royal Cliff in Pattaya, in front of regional leaders and the regional press.

- And he was the leader of the gang of thugs who pulled Abhisits driver out of the car and severely beat him up.

Nice guy? Fair and balanced?

Would you want him in a position of power, responsible to formulate national policy at a ministerial level?

That's what is very likely if the government is forced to step down or the PT / UDD win (read buy) an election in the near future.

Another point:

- Suddenly the red shirt rally is all about demaning elections.

- Last month they were the champions of democracy.

- The month before that they were demanding a pardon for their massively corrupt leader who should be before the world courts for massive crimes against humanity.

Wonder what their war cry will be next month? any ideas?

January.

Asking for new elections and sedition are not the same thing. I think most people know that.

He most certainly abrogated the terms of his bail for Songkran.

He already did that earlier beating one of his own PTP regional leaders on TV,

but there is an other worldly tolerance for utter idiots here, that I have never been

able to understand. And it can be the only reason this nutter has been left on the streets till now.

About time they reeled him in for good.

Update:

ASTV: Arisman shows up at Pan Fah stage; discusses with DAAD leaders after warrant for his arrest was issued

I wonder how the crowd and leaders will take this? If it's true democracy they want, let him go and face his arrest. If it's pseudo-brand democracy, make him a martyr, let the crowds go wild and let the leaders talk in their rabid tones.

Why is there an arrest warrant for Arisman for suggesting to overthrow the government but no arrest warrant 2 years after the yellow shirts did the same thing? And also no arrest warrants for the coup leaders that did actually overthrow the government, not just talk about it?

Whether or not he should be arrested is of less concern than the timing of the arrest. This is really not the best time to arrest him. Last week would have been good, next week might work well to. Right now, it will likely only fuel the fires of discontent.

That's a fair point. But it is also fair to suggest that allowing him to remain and further incite violence over the next day or two is equally irresponsible.

I can only hope Abhisit survives this. This is the type of nonsense that needs to stop. I'll surrender when I feel like it sort of attitude.

Find this government stil very very mild for the reds, in China and most other third world countries they would have different solutions for such elements and they would have no chance. So far not bad how they just let this pass.

A matter if balance :)

Only the army rules here, reds will have no chance 0%

Somebody has got to rule, unless you think an endless cycle of government overthrows by the rule of angry mobs will help Thailand move forward. Kudos for the arrest warrant. Long overdue but I understand Abhisit is trying to show reasonable restraint. He sure has.

At least he has said he will surrender ...

Two things,

the PAD arrest warrants have already been done, and served, and answered in court.

You seem to have missed that. And now they are ALL waiting on the trial to get underway,

when there is room on the docket.

Secondly PAD never advocated burning Bangkok to the ground in a sea of fire.

They advocated PPP resigning, but never advocated chaos and destruction.

Duty free at Suvarnabuhmi was virtually untouched after the take over.

Minimal violence and never violence on a grand scale advocated like

Arisman has done reapeatedly this week.

Two totally different things.

:) should have happened earlier for sre, I assume they had someone taping Arisman in January. The simple fact is if they send in only 2 respected senior policemen to make the arrest, that Arisman will look like the thug he is if he resists or allows the crowd to prevent his lawful arrest. The reds realy cannot afford to be seen that way at this point in time. Their limited credibility will drop to zero if he doesn't go peacefully.

Red shirt leader Arisman 'arrested'

Published: 13/03/2010 at 08:27 PM

Online news: Breakingnews

Police obtained a warrant on Saturday to arrest a key red shirt leader on charges of inciting violence.

Unconfirmed reports said Arisman Pongruangrong was arrested Saturday afternoon and held at an undisclosed police station.

Mr Arisman had called earlier this week for every shirt follower to carry a bottle of petrol and set fires if the government tried to block their protest.

He still faces charges from last April's red shirt-inspired violence at Pattaya, where he was among a huge crowd that charged the hall of the Asean summit, and from the Songkran riots in Bangkok.

Wonder if those of you reading this have seen the YouTube video clip where Arisman allegedly talks about people filling bottles with petrol, and the turning of Bangkok into a "sea of fire: ? Thai text and translation can be found on Bangkok Pundit's blog, page 2 on asiancorrespondent.com. YouTube hint : v=3hNCH7UVeYU between minute 5 and minute 6 are the "incendiary" remarks according to BP.

Definitely a candidate for lock-up: and why did they let Seh Daeng out on bail at this time ?

Timing ? What timing ?

Rhetorical question. Everyone and their dog knows that when it succeeds, it's not treason. Not just in Thailand, but anywhere, throughout history.

what are you all FARANGS concerned about this bull shiiiez...

we are not Thai

just stay inside if you must till it blows over

they don't care about us ... (Michael Jackson's song...)

According to the Bangkok Post website, Arisman was already arrested this afternoon. While according to reports on television, he's speaking at the bridge right now. Maybe he's got an evil twin?

No, it said there were unconfirmed reports. Not quite the same thing.
