Old Man River
It has been reported that Jatuporn has threatened that this protest could last for a year if it takes that long to get the house dissolution. Every day this silly ridiculous protest takes longer, every day the Thai people will get more and more fed up with them. How can they look for support in this city where everyone hates them for causing all these problems and making the whole business losing hundreds of thousands Thai Baht! There will be soon clashes with the Bangkokians, who also consider themselves to be a "power" too. Red shirts, go home. Your message was clear and now you haven't anything more to win... After all, it was a compete failure, admit it! They will never admit it. The Red Shirts won't even discuss a settlement with Abhisit, unless he gives them what they demand first. Unreal. Jingthing
Its quite simple, really. They don't need Abhisit to step down. They need to dump Thaksin. They might actually have something if they did that. Of course they won't.

janderton
. their bad loudspeakers (can't Thaksin buy them better ones?)... the loudspeakers are good... is a matter of -equalizer settings (always the bass at the top and trebles at the minimum) -PNdB thai and farangs perceiving noise in different ways. Well sooner or later there will be another election, what then - they declare victory ? Reminds me of an old Seinfeld episode where Kramer was on strike holding out for a certain amount of $/hour, the minimum wage was subsequently raised year after year. About 10 years later it reached his target and he declared his victory.

Habeeb
It has been reported that Jatuporn has threatened that this protest could last for a year if it takes that long to get the house dissolution. The reds have a great cause- more voice in gvt, calling out the elitest snob gvt, mistreatment, distribution of wealth, etc. They have a very suspicious leader, Thaksin. They should take their legitimate cause on their own terms, not Thaksin's. They are annoying for sure and Im prone to not backing down from provocation. Im not changing my routine either. Lets hope for the best...for all.
Tanaka
It sounds as though the Govt is pushing for a fight to start so they can go in and quell the disturbance? This way they won't look bad.The Red shirts are beimg portrayed as protestors but have not breached the peace. However the Govt. appears to want to portray them as irresponsible. Up to date I haven't seen reports of this; oh the blood letting was a bit gross, but appears to be symbolic jesture. Sounds more radical from reading TV and the comments of some posters. "protestors have not breached the peace" Yeah right. And you, sir, are clearly not in Bangkok so please just keep to your television at home! You might even learn something. Maybe. moresomekl
It has been reported that Jatuporn has threatened that this protest could last for a year if it takes that long to get the house dissolution. Excellent, just in time for the next election too. At that point all of Thailand will be so sick of them, and Thaksin so knackered that they will lose. Of course that will mean the capital will have to move back to Ayutthaia for a spell to get some work done. It is just another example of how chaotic their leadership is. Just two days ago he had said they will win in four days. I think reality is setting in, finally. Anyway, with Abhisit being hounded and not being able to return home, this won't last too much longer. Yeah ? Well , anti-reds (yu maybe ?) said that they would be gone beginning of this week Everybody can make mistakes

anon467367354
isn't there a any consideration being taken here that this kind of behavior is, or should be, somewhat embarrassing to the country? Throwing feces, bags of urine, spilling blood, "priests" kneeling in the blood and sticking his hands in it, the single symbolic stick of incense, enough is enough! Sanctions to whatever country houses this terrorist coward that has never lived the life of luxury and only wears one 1 million baht watch at a time. Why is this still going on? So now you elitists go ahead and bash me My answer to you is simple and to the point ----> Cant blame them either after an illegal military coup (not that any is legal) and two governements kicked out on mere pretexts What???? The coup happened because of what Taksin did and was working on. He was trying to change the term a PM can be PM to keep him in office indefinitely. Even the King made some comments about his behavior, more or less telling him he needed to calm down. Then the sale of his company to a foreigner which is illegal as a Thai company must be 51% shareholding by Thai. After he was out the Military took over for 1 year, where nothing was achieved, but peace was maintained. The one PM after that was an idiot with off the wall ideas and a cooking show. The other PM was the brother-in-law of Taksin who was forced to step down by the PAD closing the airport, no pretexts . so how can you say you cant blame them , they are only puppets earning money from Taksin with no real agenda other than trying to get the PM out and wanting Taksin back, which Taskin still does not realize that will never happen in his life time. Abhist has requested a sit down with them and they refuse, you can work with people if they refuse to sit down and settle things, so it just shows they don't know what they are doing with no clear leadership or direction other than trying to disrupt bangkok to push the PM. moresomekl
I just hope that it doesnt get out of control, or they decide to march to the airport :SIts a shame they are destroying the tourism here very unstable times... From your uninformed post one might conclude that you yourself are a tourist... Tourism accounts for a very small portion of the Thai GDP and tourist arrivals will bounce back once the red mobs go home (which they've already started to do). March to the airport?! Guess you haven't been out to Suvarnabhumi recently- I assure you the police and army are more than prepared to deal with any red shirts who might be stupid enough to wander out that way. Taksin's Red Shirts are done- even though some of them won't admit it yet. If the Red Shirts can come back under RESPECTABLE leadership with CLEAR GOALS they might actually have a chance, but as long as they have a mentally unstable homophobic convicted criminal as their leader they don't stand a chance. Gum kee dee kwa gun tot Not a tourist been living here for a year. as for the airport i went there yesterday and today and yes i saw the army with its posts but only about 10-15 soldiers/police officers i wouldnt really say enough to stop the propossed 30,000+ reds.. Merely stating a worst case scenario. but dont get me wrong i do agree with you im sure it will stay controlled and hopefully this will all be over in a week or less. then we can get back to the norm. Dun worry if the reds march on the airport , the police will be there in force , and disperse them Its the right thing to do Problem is that , when it was the yellow there was no one around How strange ! I mean i just read the other day that Brad and Angelina are adopting an alien baby. BTW, the PM that came after Dr. Thaksin was Samak. He blatantly lied about his arrangements with the TV station- big surprise. Why should Abhisit sit down with the Reds? And its the leaders of the Reds he would meet with - or do you expect him to have a sit down with 20,000 people? I think he's been more than reasonable with the Reds - its the Reds that are demanding he agree to their terms before even sitting down.

As for being all over the web I don't need to check been living here for the last 12 years and lived through all this crap. Of course all coups are illegal so your comment about being illegal is irrelevant. As for your comment on winning a 2005 election you are incorrect, his party (Thai Rak Thai) won the majority of the seats in the house of Representatives. The coup took place about one month before there was to be a nationwide general house election, so get your facts straight!! As for Samak Sundaravej the PM with the cooking show yes we was removed from office because he violated the constitution by hosting these shows and this was the reason. The rules are the rules. However the guy was an idiot with stupid comments and ideas. Also, you are incorrect that after Taksin was overthrown the PM was Samak Sundaravej , which he was not it was ruled by the retired General Surayud Chulanont who was appointed by the military for 1 year.
